Exciting News from ST5!
Dear ST5 Friends,
We've got some GREAT NEWS to share...
Firstly, some wonderful news from Montreal: Adil Charkaoui has received his Canadian citizenship. This is a significant moment, as it is further vindication for Adil, who spent 6 years living under a security certificate without charge. Join us in extending hearty congratulations to the entire Charkaoui family!
From the Justice for Adil Charkaoui Committee, the people who faithfully supported Adil, "...this is a victory for the thousands of people of very diverse backgrounds and different beliefs, who joined forces to march, write letters, speak out, contribute funds, host and organize events, sit through the endless court hearings, offer moral support to Charkaoui and his family...Most of all, it was a victory for the courage and strength of Adil and his family, who refused to be destroyed but retained their full dignity and integrity throughout the years of struggle." But that’s not the only piece of good news we had this week. We are delighted to announce that we are partnering with Blue Ice Docs to distribute The Secret Trial 5 in Canada! Blue Ice Docs is a new company, headed by Robin Smith of Kinosmith Inc., who we admire greatly. We are honoured to be part of their incredible FIRST line up, and to be their FIRST Canadian documentary.
Stay tuned for updates on when and where the film will screen. If you want to see it in your city or town, let us know! Write us at: info@secrettrial5.com.
With their help, we will be able to reach more people than ever before. They have embraced our community-based approach to distribution and believe strongly that this is a film every Canadian needs to see. We couldn’t ask for a better partner.

Last weekend, ST5 was named the BEST DOCUMENTARY at the Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival in Mississauga. This is a tremendous honour, as we were in some incredible company in the doc category.
We hope to have more good news for you shortly, as we expect to play at more festivals, and find more partners to help get the film out there. The Supreme Court may have found security certificates constitutional, but we firmly believe that the more Canadians know about this issue, the less likely they are to be used in the future.
Stay tuned for more festival and theatrical dates in a city near you!
Thank you,
The ST5 Team
